Welcome to the Metropolitan Woman’s Club Website!
MWC is entering its forty ninth year as an organization dedicated to service to our community, scholarship and enhancing the lives of our members.
For our community involvement, we award a monetary gift to a local organization that provides assistance to the community. This year, the award was given to the Daughters of Demeter, a sewing group that makes head covering for those who have lost their hair due to medical treatments. Yearly, we support the Baby Buck program out of Early Head Start by collecting donations of baby items ranging from diapers, nuks and other baby supplies. Also, every spring we collect personal hygiene items for homeless teens through Briar Patch.
Each year we offer a generous scholarship to an adult in Dane County who is returning to school after their educational path was interrupted. This year’s award recipient was Carmen Nightfall, an undergraduate student at the UW Madison majoring in genetics and pathology.
Our members grow and nurture each other through our numerous activities. There is delightful entertainment and/or speakers at out six meetings a year. Our many interest groups provide a wide variety of activities from book club, dining out, exploring Dane and surrounding County sights and of course playing bridge. Members of MWC have formed meaningful and lasting friendships. MWC is like another family. Our mission reminds me of the Maya Angelou poem.
My mission in life is not
Merely to survive, but to
Thrive; and to do so with
Some passion, some compassion,
Some humor, and some style
