Who We Are

The Metropolitan Woman’s Club, Inc. was formed in 1971 by a group of women who joined together to encourage the social, cultural and intellectual fulfillment of the individual member. The club is dedicated to the acceptance of civic responsibilities as they relate to the needs of the community.

To that end, the club has raised and donated thousands of dollars since 1971 to meet those civic responsibilities. In the early years, the members worked very hard on fundraising projects that included salad luncheons, craft fairs, fashion shows, raffles and cookbooks.

In recent years, rather than fundraising, members have instead been assessed a yearly fee for the support of charitable causes and an educational scholarship. One or more financial service awards are given to worthy community-based organizations or projects and other donations are collected to support additional community projects. In addition, Metropolitan Woman’s Club bestows one scholarship a year on a deserving, financially challenged adult returning to post-secondary education with the intent of improving their current career status or beginning a new career.

There are six meetings a year with programs that are cultural, educational or entertaining. Interest groups within the organization provide multiple opportunities for member participation and camaraderie
